SYSTEM OF KNOWLEDGE- SCIENCE
BY - MISS SUMA

Science, any system of knowledge that is concerned with the physical world and its phenomena and that entails unbiased observations and systematic experimentation. In general, a science involves a pursuit of knowledge covering general truths or the operations of fundamental laws.
Science can be divided into different branches based on the subject of study. The physical sciences study the inorganic world and comprise the fields of astronomy, physics, chemistry, and the Earth sciences. The biological sciences such as biology and medicine study the organic world of life and its processes. Social sciences like anthropology and economics study the social and cultural aspects of human behavior.
Science entails a thorough examination of the behavior of the physical and natural world. Research, experimentation, and observation are used in the study.
The scientific disciplines are diverse. The social sciences, formal sciences, and natural sciences are some of them. Subcategories and sub-sub-categories have been created from these basic categories. The natural sciences include physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, and astronomy; the social sciences include history, geography, economics, political science, sociology, psychology, social studies, and anthropology; and the formal sciences include computer science, logic, statistics, decision theory, and mathematics.
Three Branches of Science
Modern Science is mainly constituted of three main branches, i.e. Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Formal Sciences as these three areas peruse the nature of our world and the universe most broadly.
Thus, the three main branches of Science are:
Natural Sciences
Social Sciences
Formal Sciences
Natural Sciences
Natural Sciences are the core of the branches of science as study the nature of our physical world and the universe.
Social Sciences
Social Sciences study human societies from across the globe as well as the relationship of human beings with their social environment.
Formal Sciences
Formal Sciences is quite a unique area of study in Science as it uses formal systems to produce knowledge and explore the nature of different disciplines ranging from Mathematics, and Logic to Computer Science and Information Technology.
The experts in various branches of science have continually been studying the subject deeply and experimenting with different aspects to come up with newer theories, inventions and discoveries. These discoveries and inventions have made life easier for us;
COMPUTER SCIENCE
BY - MRS NANCY PRIYA

Computer Science is the study of computer and computational system.
The history of computer science is a journey through centuries of innovation, driven by the human quest to automate tasks, process information more efficiently, and explore the boundaries of what machines can achieve.
Here’s a detailed look at its evolution:
· Ancient Roots (Pre-1600s): The origins of computation can be traced back to ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians and Babylonians, who developed early systems of mathematics and calculation using tools like the abacus.
· Early Mechanical Devices (1600s-1800s): The 17th and 18th centuries saw the development of mechanical calculators by Blaise Pascal and Gottfried .These devices could perform arithmetic operations mechanically, laying the groundwork for automated computation.
· *Theoretical Foundations (19th Century):In the 19th century, Charles Babbage conceived the idea of a programmable mechanical computer with his designs for the Analytical Engine and the Difference Engine. They introduced key concepts of programmability and automatic calculation.
· Early 20th Century Breakthroughs (1900s-1940s): The early 20th century saw significant theoretical advancements in computation and logic. Alan Turing's groundbreaking work in the 1930s laid the foundation for modern computer science with his concept of the Turing machine, a theoretical model of computation that formed the basis of digital computers.
· World War II and the Rise of Electronic Computers (1940s): During World War II, efforts to break enemy codes accelerated the development of electronic computers. The ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), completed in 1946, is often considered the first general-purpose electronic digital computer. It used vacuum tubes and was capable of performing a wide range of calculations.
· Transistors and Integrated Circuits (1950s-1960s):** The invention of the transistor in 1947 and the subsequent development of integrated circuits in the late 1950s and 1960s revolutionized computing by making computers smaller, faster, and more reliable. This era saw the emergence of mainframe computers and the development of programming languages like FORTRAN and COBOL.
· Personal Computing and Software Revolution (1970s-1980s):The 1970s witnessed the advent of the microprocessor, which led to the proliferation of affordable personal computers in the 1980s. This era also saw significant advancements in software development, including the creation of operating systems as well as the development of graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
· Internet and the Digital Age (1990s-Present): The 1990s brought about the commercialization of the internet and the World Wide Web, transforming computing into a globally interconnected network of information and communication. This era also saw rapid advancements in networking technologies, mobile computing, and the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning as major fields within computer science.
· Contemporary Challenges and Innovations: In the 21st century, computer science continues to evolve rapidly with advancements in areas such as cloud computing, big data analytics, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and bioinformatics. These innovations are driving new applications in fields as diverse as healthcare, finance, entertainment, and beyond.
Overall, the history of computer science is characterized by a series of transformative innovations that have continually expanded the capabilities of computers and reshaped the way humans interact with information and technology. It is a dynamic field that continues to push the boundaries of what is possible, driven by ongoing research, experimentation, and technological breakthroughs.
